COVID-19!! It's Still here
It's outbreak brought world to a halt. But as Every cloud has a silver lining during this dilemma, Technology and Engineers became saviour for the entire world. Every industry have faced lots of disruption and also came up with some new strategy, new creativity and with new a technology.
Following are unprecedented examples of how technology helped various industries to tackle covid-19 pandemic:
I-Office
The global pandemic has taken a massive hit on all the sectors of the economy. Due to social distancing everyone were forced to stay home which made huge impact on work life balance. Work from home wouldn't be possible without technology. Video conferencing has helped people to communicate with each other in the middle of the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. 'Zoom', a video conferencing app has been in the spotlight garnering a large amount of users within a short period of time. It's security and privacy issues have been highlighted from the day one. In the wake of these security issues and the demand for a secure video conferencing applications, the Indian government launched ₹ 1 crore challenge to encourage startups and companies to develop an application to corrival video conferencing and messaging apps such as Zoom. Google hangout meet, Microsoft teams, skype, Amazon chime, Cisco webex tried to give their best features. Basically all this has saved the economy from breaking down totally.
II-Education
Technology made an effective transition to an online mode of teaching-learning education system. The adoption of smart classroom systems by schools is transforming the traditional education system. Though the crisis is devastating, it is making our schools and colleges, technologically advanced. Many engineers and developers are working to make E-learning more realistic. Main fundamental of learning is laboratory experiments for that virtual lab setup is created.The demand for virtual labs is bound to increase in future. While the lockdown have made it more apparent and urgent.
III-Hotel
Hotel industries faced huge loss during this pandemic. They made lot of improvement in delivery system. Many companies highlighted that the Contactless Dining will help in reducing customer contact with anything in the restaurant that someone else might have touched. The concept has three main components that are contactless menu, contactless ordering and contactless payment. With a contact less menu, a person can scan the QR code on the table and will have access to the menu for dishes. The contactless ordering will allow the customer to place the order at the restaurant without waiting for a staff member. Lastly, payments will also be contactless. Bill can be paid via app before leaving the restaurant. By use of new strategic technology this industry have achieved stability.
IV-Tourism
Global tourism has almost come to a standstill. Travel-related businesses such as airlines and cruise lines were reportedly on the verge of bankruptcy in the beginning. Now travelers are confined to their homes.Demand for indoor activities and exploration is on the rise. Several cultural organizations have come up with online tours of their properties and experiences, so that the quest for discovery remains unhindered.
V- Social Media
To keep everyone sane technology helped us in many ways. It's hard to imagine lockdown without Gaming, social media surfing and many other online platforms. There has been a vast improvement in surveillance as well as monitoring technology.
VI- Medical
Medical department have worked their fingers to the bone for the society. When entire world was at home, the medical department was on their duty and still they are. In short period of time to help doctors medical device development process became faster. When entire world is looking for the vaccine these super heroes are working in every possible way. Application such as 'AROGYA SETU' is designed to track the spread of virus in a particular region to regulate the proper measures. Doctors are treating patients online to avoid the spread of virus. New technologies are being introduced to fight with corona virus and they will surely get successful!!
The fight against corona virus was not possible without new innovations and this pandemic made each industry to think, to create something out of the box. As someone said that "brightest blazes are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks" and corona virus is that unexpected spark in everyone's life.
