It’s been more than six months since the world has come to stand still and everyone has adjusted themselves within the four walls of their houses.

 

During these challenging times, the physical activity of the world declined , and screen time increased rapidly. According to a research , the step count declined by 15 % in India after the declaration of pandemic. For a huge population, travelling was the only form of physical activity, due to the pandemic this was also stopped. The pandemic has adversely affected the health of masses.

 

But what is ‘HEALTH’? It is the state of physical , mental and social well being. The three aspects of health have been brutally down trodden because of lockdown.

 

PHYSICAL WELL BEING is one of the most important aspect of health. The reason are as follows :

Exercise improves your mood and decrease feelings of depression, anxiety and stress.

It produces changes in the parts of the brain that regulate stress and anxiety. It can also increase brain sensitivity for the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine , which relieve feelings of depression .

Additionally, exercise can increase the production of endorphins, which are known to help produce positive feelings and reduce the perception of pain. It also makes one more aware of their surroundings and their own mental health.

One study asked 26 healthy men and women who normally exercised regularly to either continue exercising or stop exercising for two weeks. Those who stopped exercising experienced increases in negative mood .

The campaign’s tag line “FIT HOGA INDIA , TABHI HIT HOGA INDIA” , very much explains it’s motives. It further emphasizes , a fitter youth can build a better future.Hence , let us all take the “ Fitness Pledge “ and resolve to work on our most important asset i.e is HEALTH. After all , Health is Wealth”.
