How was "WORK FROM HOME" introduced in INDIA?

     

     

     The WHO  declared the spread of 'Co-vid 19' as a pandemic on 11th March 2020. Later the cases where increasing rapidly all over the world. All countries were annoucing lockdown. India also declared lockdown on 25th March 2020  and  was  extending  it for  more and more days. In India, industries manufacturing accounts for 77.60 percentage. And due to lockdown industries and companies were closed  down. Because of this India economy was getting disturbed. 

       As millions of professionals aims for the ideal work-life balance in extraordinary times when they have been confined to their homes, industry giants as well as start-ups have told their employees to continue to be there. And India was introduced to a new form of working "Work From Home"
       
       It works for some and not for others, longing to get back to life as it was.
      

                    

Benefits of Work from home





1 Better Work-Life Balance - The employees working from home can lead to improvements and stability in health and well-being.

 

2 Less Commute Stress - Working from home can help retain employees to reduce the workload and can reduce stress.


3 Location Independence - Workers have their space whether they want to complete their work with a mug of coffee or complete their household i.e some other work and than complete the work alloted. 


4 Improved Inclusivity-The compaines by hiring employees who can work from home in the communities where they feel the most comfortable and supported, wherever that may be, companies choose to support diversity, community, and family eventually improving inclusivity.


5 Money Savings or Financial benefits - Savings on office space and other facilities also  the money for travelling daily is saved. Eventually reducing the pollution caused by the Vehicles resulting in Maintaining oxygen level in the surrounding and recovering the holes in the ozone layer.

Effects of Work from home




1. Decreased staff morale- It can be harder to maintain team spirit when employees are working at different locations.


2. Difficulty sticking to a routine- Working as well as managing the household work or having some work at the same time can cause a diffcult in sticking to a routine.


3. Missing important calls or pings-Due to the more use of technology in such 'Work from home'. The important calls gets  missed out. 


4.Problems with staff development - It is difficulty to maintain staff development and upgrading skills.


5. Convenience - Ability to locate sales staff near clients rather than in your premises.


 Working slowly - There could be difficulty managing home workers and  monitoring their performance individually.






7 Boredom-Sitting for many hours doing work in house can eventually result in boredom. Some people feel their are in isolation  which develops loneliness.


8 Iffy WiFi -Work form Home is totally depends on the technology. The iffy wifi which goes on and off  can make the task completion slow.


9 Waiting for an answer-You need to ask a super quick question, but it’ll impact how you do something for the next hour or even the rest of the day. And there’s no response. And the work loades becomes more. 


10 Cost of working from home - Initial costs of training and providing suitable equipment, including adaptations to meet health and safety standards.


11 Increased telecommunications costs  For example, increase in telephone or broadband bills or the requirement to supply your employee with a mobile phone for work purposes.





Not all jobs suit home working - working from home suits some jobs better than others. Equally, working from home suits some  of the personality types but not others. Some people may prefer colleague contact by face to face communication  as a better option than "Work From Home".
